"Pleasure wheels" that were built out of wood and were powered by hand date back to the early 17th century and actually preceded George Washington Gale Ferris' marvel that appeared in 1893 at the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago. Ferris' wheel was powered by two 100-horsepower engines, but it looks like in this town in India, the original method works best.
