From Cape Canaveral, Florida has successfully launched to the ISS U.S. shuttle Atlantis. Launch took place on the eve at 22:20 Moscow time. On board the space shuttle are six astronauts, their mission will last 12 days.

The astronauts will deliver to the station about 12 tons of equipment, including Russian research module "Dawn" and commit three spacewalks. This 32-second and last flight of the shuttle, which began its mission in 1985.

Over the last shuttle launch from the Space Flight Center, Kennedy watched about forty thousand people.
Upon returning the shuttle to Earth from NASA will be only two space shuttle, Discovery and Endeavor.
They will make a last mission in September and November. After flights to the ISS will be carried out by Russian Soyuz.
